Different Types Of Garage Doors

by on May.30, 2011, under Uncategorized

Garage doors are large sized gates used for your garages and they can be opened either using an opener or physically. Your garage door needs to be sufficiently large for you to be able to pass through comfortably with your automobile. Garage doors particularly consist of an overhead arrangement that is made using a number of plates that are hinged together. On opening, the garage door panels all move over a track mechanism.

Present day, garage door systems have evolved enough to provide you with a number of options, making it possible to choose from different types of garage types. The first type of garage doors is developed from a single large-sized panel, hence known as single-panel doors. These doors can be slid up overhead to take to a complete open position. With this kind of traditional door mechanism it is important to leave a gap when parking your car as the garage door will swing out before opening overhead.

The second type of garage door is the sectional door. They are built using 6 to 8 panels that slid overhead and can be held there. They consume the same space as taken by the single-paneled doors. One big advantage of using sectional doors over the traditional swing out mechanism is that you can park close up to the door, making them great for small spaces; this kind of garage door is also known for being reliable and low maintenance. These doors are generally built using wood, aluminum, vinyl and steel. And, when added with polyurethane insulation, they become highly energy efficient.

Roller garage doors, the third type of doors are made using corrugated steel. The mechanism consists of rolling up the door for opening. These doors are easy to open as they have an in built spring mechanism. The fourth type of garage doors are the swing hung doors. The first garage doors ever to be made worked on this mechanism. Generally, they are mechanic doors in groups of two and they open-up in the same way as normal doors do. The material used for this kind of door is often wood, and wood is a material that is relatively easy to keep maintained to a working standard. This opening mechanism is best used in large spaces where you have a long driveway, as they swing out, therefore needing a space to be left between the door and your car or vehicle.

Regular garage door maintenance is important as it is necessary for the correct functioning of your doors. It is also necessary to check the balance of the door from time to time. And, defective rollers and springs need to be replaced by professional only. The moving parts also need to be lubricated constantly. And, the bearings and hinges should be cared in order to ensure proper operation. Finally, always ensure that the torsion springs are kept well oiled and lubricated so as to not cause unnecessary friction.

110 Volt Electric Garage Heaters.

by on Oct.07, 2010, under Uncategorized

You could find it tricky to stay warm in the winter when you want to work in your garage. Having to wear lots of thick layers of clothing is not really the ideal situation. So you might think about getting a 110 volt electric heater for your garage.

The electric garage heaters 110 volt are small, flexible and warm the garage to the perfect temperature. It’s possible to find a large range of garage heaters at rates which are very reasonable.

But nevertheless one of the key issues with these 110 volt electric garage heaters would be the fact they might be slightly weaker than their stronger counterparts. So it could take a little bit longer before they in reality heat the garage up to the required temperature. However, they are more eco-friendly as they draw less electricity – even when running longer.

The electric baseboard heater is probably the easiest 110 volt electric garage heater to buy, install and look after. This type of heater is also one of the least expensive models to buy. The only thing you need to have when using these heaters is a 110 volt outlet so you can plug it in and switch it on. Remember that you will need to get a heater to suit the size of garage that you have.

There are other options for heating up a garage so this is important to remember. There are so many different sizes, styles and varieties of heater you can pick out from. This could be larger electric heaters or even gas heaters. It is important, though, to remember that gas heaters will require a specialist to attach the gas to the gas outlet on the heater. Remember however, that using gas in confined spaces can be a little bit more risky.

If your garage is small enough and you have an electricity outlet in the garage an investment in electric garage heaters 110 volt will prove to be worthwhile.

Everybody that owns a garage should think about installing electric garage heaters. Because this isn’t a small item, before you go out and purchase one, you will be best advised to find out all you can about them, even about electric garage heaters 110 volt or electric garage heater 220v.

Garage Screens Priceless to Those Who Love to be Outdoors

by on Aug.05, 2009, under Uncategorized

Your garage isn’t just a place to store your possessions, but also great spaces for holding get-togethers and throwing parties. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be difficult to get the most out of the open-aired aspects of open garages while limiting the annoying effects of nature. There are, though, ways by which people can achieve the perfect balance between interior and exterior. Namely, retractable screens from Stoett.

Using garage screens is the best way of accomplishing this feat, as they are specifically designed for this purpose. Using a screen to cover the open end of your garage has the advantage of not obstructing the outward view. After all, if the reason for maximizing garage usage rests on the fact that it allows you to draw on the outside atmosphere, then preserving that feeling is of great importance. The right garage screens from Stoett Industries will do just that. It divide indoors and outdoors without being visually overt enough to ruin the illusion. It will not only do this visually, it will also provide enough ventilation to allow for the passage and flow of air.

Because these retractable screens are so discreet, many people may become concerned over whether these barriers will prove effective at keeping the outside where it belongs, outdoors. This is a natural concern, but there is no real need for worrying. The sturdy nature of these garage screens and their frames means that they will easily prevent bugs from sneaking in. Because these screens are so tightly constructed, they also keep any annoying mosquitoes from crossing through the garage entry.

The usefulness of these garage screens is only crowned by their overall feasibility. The very nature of their design means there is a limited number of pieces, and the overall installation is comparatively straightforward. The manufacturing process is also flexible enough to provide screens for nearly any opening – small vehicle openings and more. All of these features work towards making the choice to purchase and install a screen feasible for many homeowners.

Put all of the above elements together, the appeal of the outside, the comfort of the inside, and the simple design, and you have a product which is unrivaled in nearly every appreciable aspect. That alone makes garage screens enormously valuable to people wanting to get the most out of their garages. In addition, Stoett provides a great retractable window screen with similar benefits.  Check out their site at www.stoett.com.
