Get Higher Rankings With These SEO Tips
by on Oct.29, 2009, under Uncategorized
For the Average person, SE Optimization is something only highly skilled people can do. As a Guaranteed SEO in Houston, I believe part of this misunderstanding is because of all the B.S. flogged by scores of people calling their self SEO experts. Some do this because they don’t have a clue about SEO while some others do it to justify the ongoing fees they charge their Clients. SE Optimization isn’t brain surgery folks. It’s a systematic series of procedures that if done properly, will cause a Website to move up in the rankings.
You want to get off to a good start. To begin with, a person should make certain keywords are part of the URL if it’s possible. When all things are equal, a web page with keywords in the address will rank higher than one without the keywords included in the domain name.
Now that you have that done, the keyword or keyword phrase should be added in the Name of your Website. By doing this, you’re helping the search engines figure out what it is that you Website is all about.
Your keywords should also be used as the Title of each page also, or at least, you should use some keywords in the title of the page or article. This too helps the search engines determine what the subject of the page is, what it’s about and how relevant it is to the search term being searched for. As an added benefit, the Website or Blog should be designed so that the Page Title is in the H1 tag. Search engines give a lot of value to the H1 tag and so it’s important in good SEO practices. If you’re using a web design company company, make certain they know how to do this one little thing.
Now that you have your domain, Website Title (Name) and Page Titles optimized with your keywords, it’s important that the words you wish your website to rank higher for show up a few times in the content of the page. For best results, you should place the main keyword of the page somewhere in the first paragraph and several more times througout the article depending on the length. It’s also important to put it near the end of the page or article. A few more times between the first and last paragraph won’t hurt, just be sure you work them in the beginning and end.
Last up, the most important aspect of Website Search Engine Optimization actually takes place off the page. In fact, it takes place off the site altogether. In my opinion, the most important thing in in getting a higher ranking in Google is backlinks leading back to your page on your Website. And it’s not enough to just get backlinks, these backlinks need to have your keywords as the Anchor text of the links back to your site.
How important are backward links? Well, I can rank a website that doesn’t have the keywords in the domain, one that doesn’t have keywords in the Website Title, Page Title and in the Content (although it’s much, much harder to do), but without anchored links back to your site leading back to your site, {it is nearly impossible} to rank a site in Google for any search phrases that are the least bit in demand.
Who wants to Know How to Optimize Your Pages for Search Engines?

There are a number of steps I always follow when optimizing a site for SEO (note these are just the high points, there are others that I don’t mention here, but these WILL take you a long way):
1) For a new site, I will include the keywords in a non hyphenated domain name (if you can get a .edu or .gov TLD snap it up, otherwise a cheap .info will be ok)
2) If possible, I will rename the URL to each important page to include the main keyword for that page.
3) Implement Google Analytics for the site and ensure the tracking script is added to every page (if not already done).
4) Go through the “money” pages and make sure that the title, descriptions and keywords meta tags are unique and optimized for the keywords on the page. In a competitive niche (over 1 million result pages in Google), I would limit the keywords to one main phrase, a couple of local modifiers and one or two more closely related terms per page.
5) Go through the non-money pages (i.e. pages that are irrelevant from an SEO perspective) and ensure the title and meta description tags are not duplicates of any of the money page tags. Google Webmaster tools will identify this for you once your site has been registered and crawled.
6) I also nofollow any links to overhead pages from all of the pages on the site with the exception of the home page. I leave the home page links as follow links, since I want the SEs to index all pages on the site and having privacy, contact, disclaimer, etc pages add to Google’s view of the “trust” for the site. On all other pages I want only the link to the home page to be a follow link, so I can build up the page rank of the home page. I handle this in Dreamweaver by using two different site templates. If your main keyword page is something other than the home page, modify your approach accordingly.
7) I then optimize each page’s content for it’s main keywords, modifiers and related terms. It’s important that each word or phrase used in the keyword META is found somewhere on the page to avoid keyword spam issues.
At this point the on page optimization is complete enough to start with link building. As you may already know, building links is not a piece of cake. I use articles, blog posts, submit forms on relevant sites, reciprocal links, etc. There are ways to short cut this process, without going black or grey hat. by on Jun.17, 2009, under Uncategorized
The top ten home-business ideas really will vary depending on who you are. That’s because each person will have different skills, interests, and abilities. Regardless, there are crucial factors to consider when choosing your initial home-based business.
You should first check to see if the business is designed to minimize down-side risk. A good business system will include means by which you can monitor essential risk factors. In a nutshell it’s better to find businesses that improve your chances of success, not ones that guarantee them. Any decent list of home-based business ideas should include this as part of it’s evaluation criteria.
You should also try to determine if the home business you start with will be helpful for building other businesses in the future. For one thing you will have an easier time figuring out what’s holding your PPC marketing back if you also understand search engine marketing. If you appreciate the fundamentals of expanding a business deciding on a starting point will be easier.
Lastly, the quality of support and training is essential. Many individuals undervalue the importance of good support. The reason why good support is important is you usually move forward much more quickly than when you do everything yourself. If you can find a home business system that offers a forum that is specifically focused on that home business you can often move forward much more quickly.
Let’s consider what it might take to realistically build a serious business online.
An intelligent way to start is by using an affordable risk-minimizing business system to generate $300. Most people should work on developing a basic understanding of search engine optimization. Next, you ought to think about putting some money towards a PPC marketing course. The initial money you make from the first business system should go a long way to make it easier for you to get through the initial learning curve. That’s especially true for people who are on a tight budget.
PPC marketing has numerous advantages for home business owners. It helps you quickly test your sales copy’s conversion rates. It can help you in finding alternative keyword ideas. Additionally it us usually not very hard to scale. Internet marketing professionals nearly always include pay per click marketing in their marketing mix.
If you’re a quick study and aren’t stressed about cash you might consider a PPC course sooner. It might also make sense if you already have a fair amount of internet marketing experience already.
Ultimately your primary goal is to make sure you have a systematic method for choosing a home business.
