How To Keep Your Motivation Up While Working From Home

People immediately think that working from home is a hundred times better than having a 9-to-5 office job. You don’t have to get out of the house. There’s no boss peeking over your shoulder. No talkative co-workers distracting you. However, it takes the same amount of hard work when you make money online. In fact, it’s even easier to lose your motivation to work while at home.

Start the day right just before you scramble to your home workstation desk. Have a nice shower and breakfast. It’s important that you perform certain things in the morning to help you get ready, and excited, for work. Just because no one looks at you doesn’t mean you can work in your pajamas or boxers. Still keep the fact that you’re still working, but not in a conventional office.

There are many temptations at home that can easily make you lose your focus. There’s the ref and the bed. There’s your pet and the TV. There’s chatting with a neighbor or surfing the net. It’s important to keep your discipline up at all times. Make schedules and set deadlines. These shall keep you from being distracted and tempted to skip working for the day.

A great way to keep distractions at bay is by having your own office at home. It can be any unused space. It can be the garage, guest bedroom, or even the attic. Just make sure you can turn it into something that looks like an office. Install blinds or computer workstation furniture. Anything that will make the room look professional, for a professional who works from home.

To help you stick to a certain schedule, make a to-do list. Plus, set a timeframe that you will follow for each entry you will follow. Check each one off as soon as it’s done. Don’t forget to reward yourself from time to time for a job well done. Unless you want to get burned out, and easily give up on work and succumb to reasons to quit for the rest of the day.

Your productivity is not constant throughout the day. There are times when you can seem to accomplish a lot. But there are other times when you can’t seem to finish anything at all. Find your most productive mood during the day. If it’s early in the morning, for example, do all your hardest tasks during such time.

There’s no denying that working from home both got its sets of advantages and disadvantages. But if you lose your motivation, it may mean disaster. And you might crawl back to your previous office and beg your ex-boss to take you in once more. Make sure you take pleasure in the perks of working from home, but don’t abuse them.
