For some time, I’ve been making use of Google Adsense on my site as a form of earnings. Whilst it isn’t something I would give up my day job over, a couple of bucks here and there fast turns into a couple of hundred bucks a month. Can’t scoff at that.
But here’s the brilliant thing – regardless of how much cash AdSense is making for you right now, one or two simple steps can increase that amount considerably. I read an article recently which I decided to apply and execute and managed to increase my Adsense income by 20%! If it’s that simple and there are tricks and tips on how to grow that revenue, then why not?
This is Part 1 that contains a variety of pointers that may help maximize your earnings from Adsense. Part 2 will be released shortly.
1) If you haven’t already done so, you have to color code your adverts to match your internet site palette precisely. Human psychology plays into this and studies have indicated that folks will click more willingly when advertisements appear to be part of your website and not a stand alone function. Don’t use frames around your advertisements as that isolates the advertisements. Instead, in the AdSense code generation settings, make sure you select the matching color as your page background for the ad frame and the ad background. When selecting the adverts heading colors, match them to the matching color of your page headings. Use the same ad background shade as your page background. In addition, use the equivalent ad text font and colour as the wording on your pages. This one lone tweak will potentially make the best difference to your click conversion rates.
2) Tailor your page matter to a selected niche or focus. As you really should know, page content that is tailored toward a particular theme is far more likely to trigger AdWords adverts that closely match the content and is more certain to spark interest from your fans to click. My site concentrates on free stuff, and frequently when I check the advertisements by Adsense closely align with my site’s content. It’s amazing!
3) Anecdotal research indicates that the horizontal banner design or leaderboard image advertisements are ineffectual. This is probably because they were the first advertisements and therefore people know it is blatant advertising. So make sure you use the text based or vertical image advertisements.
4) Get tips using Google’s own AdSense research at https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/static.py?page=tips.html to assist you in deciding on where on to put the AdSense ad code. Placement is important. It needs to flow and feel just like part of the site.
So harness these tips to your advantage today.
