Quickbooks online edition

Obviously not everyone can work remotely as some vocations require individuals to be at their employers premises or travel to perform their tasks in person. But for those of us who are allowed to work remotely then I thought it would be useful to share my experiences and present some practical directions by distributing it on the web with the sole objective of providing valuable shortcuts for adapting to remote working or supervising remote workers.

I must tell you you that there are many people on the Internet who will try and sell you courses for vast sums of money, believe me you don’t have to do this.

I am blessed to be allowed to work anywhere I choose and just about everybody who asks me what I do for a living wants to learn how I manage to work remotely. Don’t get me wrong here I am still refining the science of remote working as all of the time I discover persons on the web who tell me about new tricks and I am always uncovering new tools and methods that make my life simpler and increase my productivity.

Over the past 7 years I have significantly adapted my working methods to enable me to do just about all of my work remotely with a kit of web tools and robust self management. One afternoon whilst surfing the web I unearthed Quickbooks online and this made me think about what just might be possible. My discovery of ’cloud’ based ‘on demand’ small business accounting software was a significant event for me and the beginning of my ‘remote working journey’.

I must mention up front that effectively working remotely is as much about the software as it is about self discipline. Working remotely also means educating your co-workers, supervisors and customers as to what they can expect and how they will communicate with you.

In ‘Remote Working Part 2 – Tips on self management’ I talk about how to focus.
