An increasing number of people are quickly realizing that the Internet is a great place to make money. Blogging can be an easy way to add money into your pocket if you really know what you are doing.
But the problem lies there: not everyone knows exactly what to do.
A lot of other guides on the net generate truckloads of promises and how-to guides when it comes to making money from blogging. What they don’t tell you is how many people fail to launch a marketable blog.
So without further ado, here are a couple of things NOT to do when you are trying to make money blogging:
Rant and rave about random topics
People expect you to focus your efforts for a certain end, which is why you definitely don’t want to make your blog a soundboard for all your whines and gripes about the world. If you must rant and rave about random topics, do it in your personal blog – not your money-making one.
So obviously market a product or service
A blog isn’t a sales page, it’s a place where people come to seek your opinion on something. Always give subtle and balanced views in favor of the products you are trying to market, over-hyping anything in your blog will not help at all. Whenever you run out of something new to write, it is ok to use PLR content, remember keeping your blog updated is like keeping in constant contact with your customers.
Sign up for random ads not related to your blog
It would be pretty difficult to sell used car parts in a blog talking about growing the various varieties of roses. Make sure that you at least have some control over the advertisements being plastered all over your blog. Always have a secure blog. At the very least, choose ads that will definitely help your readers.
Sit back and wait for the readers to pile in
Blogs don’t get famous by themselves, you know. You have to actively participate in the blogosphere, or the global community of bloggers. Find other blogs, forums or communities that talk about the things you do, and actively contribute to these communities. This’ll raise your profile and draw more readers to your blog.
Fire and forget your blog
As much as people say blogging is easy, it isn’t. It’s a lot like the world of journalism, where you have to deliver fresh, intriguing content on a regular basis if you want to keep your customers engaged. Stagnant blogs lose readers, and so too do they lose money.
Expect big $$$ right off the bat
Blogging success stories weren’t made overnight – they were built over years. Despite the fact that you may be successful in writing and the followers just keep flowing in, you'll still need to take control of your blog in order to earn the big bucks.
So there you have it, a couple of DONTS in the world of blogging. Steer clear of them, and you are going to be a couple steps closer to making your bank account just a little bit fatter in due time.
